According to Coluna Do Fla, journalist Renata Mendonça renewed her criticism of Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista on Monday, revisiting his 2025 remark about her appearance during a TV Brasil programme.
At Estádio Luso-Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Cruzeiro in the Brasileirão Feminino. Cruzeiro took the lead, then Mariana equalised for Flamengo. The result keeps Flamengo unbeaten with two wins and two draws.
Mendonça had posted a video in October highlighting the women’s team training conditions at Flamengo. The footage showed a changing room in need of repairs, with broken and dirty floors.
On air, she said Baptista had targeted her appearance rather than her reporting, adding that he would not have made the same comment if she were a man. She described this as contempt for women and sexism.
In December, at a Deliberative Council meeting, Baptista was mocking, accused her of disparaging the club and not supporting the women’s game, and argued that if her employer invested 10 million or 20 million a year in broadcast rights, conditions would improve.
Her report also irritated Zico after she cited CFZ facilities that, at the time, had no water. The club icon asked her to return to see it had been a one-off case.
