Vasco complete their Copa Sudamericana group stage against Barracas Central at São Januário on Wednesday at 19:00 Brasília time. According to Globo.com, Renato is expected to stick with his tournament plan and start mostly reserves despite the pressure.

As with previous home matches in the competition, senior regulars will still be named in the squad. Under-20 forward Lukas Zuccarello, who travelled to Paraguay for the defeat by Olimpia, will again join the first-team group.

Right-back remains a headache. Puma returned to training on Monday after a hospital stay for a foot infection. He was discharged on Sunday morning and worked separately at CT Moacyr Barbosa, but the Uruguayan is out.

João Vitor Mutano, a starter in Renato’s last two matches, is suspended after his red card at Defensores del Chaco. Paulo Henrique is also sidelined with a ligament injury following a right-ankle sprain. In training, Renato has looked at a back three, mirroring the setup used away to Barracas Central in Buenos Aires.

Andrés Gómez may start, which would be his final outing for Vasco before the World Cup pause. He is banned for the next Brasileiro match after a third yellow and will report to Colombia in the coming days. The national team have friendlies on the first and seventh of June, against Costa Rica and Jordan.
