Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s running proved decisive as Lille beat Rennes 2-1 on Sunday, closing matchday 26 in Ligue 1.
According to L'Équipe, Fernandez-Pardo earned an eight and tormented Rennes with constant depth runs, while working back. He scored in the second minute then set up Hakon Haraldsson on 47 minutes.
Haraldsson, rated seven, was tireless and intelligent in his movement, often taking up the right positions beyond the ball.
Ayyoub Bouaddi, also on seven, impressed in midfield with his work rate, technique and availability, knitting Lille’s play with simple passes.
For Rennes, Estéban Lepaul had only eight first-half touches, yet pounced from six yards on 59 minutes to make it 1-2, his 14th of the season.
Félix Correia struggled, often imprecise under pressure and unable to influence Lille’s play despite defensive graft, and was given a three.
Mousa Al-Tamari carried little threat and was replaced by Szymanski on 71 minutes. Ludovic Blas made his first start since late October with Sebastian Szymanski short to begin, looked sharper after the break, then went off for Zabiri on 81 minutes.
Mahamadou Nagida found it tough defensively, covering Fernandez-Pardo on the opener, and after a few forward bursts was replaced by Frankoswki on 71 minutes.
