According to reports from RMC Sport and L’Équipe, Stade Rennais had approached Olympique de Marseille’s Chancel Mbemba (30) over a transfer in the upcoming window.
Over the summer, Mbemba was ostracised by the club as they looked to force a sale for a defender entering the final year of his contract. No move was able to materialise and the centre-back remained at the club.
However, Marseille have had no intention of playing the Congolese international and while he trains with the first team it has been reported that he is left out of the club’s video sessions or tactical set-ups. The centre-back has yet to play a single minute or be included in any of the matchday squads.
Mbemba has previously spoken about wanting to leave in the January transfer window in a move that would suit all parties. However, both RMC Sport and L’Équipe write that Rennes €2 million approach has been rebuffed by the player. From January, the centre-back will be free to talk to other teams.
