Rennes host Strasbourg this Sunday at Roazhon Park at 5:15 pm CET. The 16th-placed Ligue 1 team have just parted ways with Argentine head coach Jorge Sampaoli and appointed Habib Beye in the dugout. The former Newcastle United right-back will make his managerial Ligue 1 debut against Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior.
L’Equipe understands that a number of winter signings are expected to make their Rennes debut this Sunday. Brest loanee Lilian Brassier – who spent the first half of the Ligue 1 season at Marseille – is poised to start as a left-sided centre-back in a back three alongside Leo Ostigard and Christopher Wooh. Rennes midfielder Seko Fofana will miss out against the Alsatians after sustaining a muscle injury. Wales international Jordan James and Dutch midfielder Azor Matusiwa will anchor Rennes’ midfield.
Former Celtic FC striker Kyogo Furuhashi is set to get his first start at Roazhon Park this evening. The Japanese international will lead the line from the left channel. France U21 international Arnaud Kalimuendo starts up front.
