Real Madrid have once again had to contend with many injuries in the defensive department that has affected their season.
Eder Militao has suffered a second ACL injury in as many seasons while David Alaba missed the entire first half of the campaign due to slow recovery from his previous ACL issue.
Furthermore, the Austrian is into his thirties, as is Antonio Rudiger, who himself has been dealing with fitness issues of late.
Even though the emergence of Raul Asencio has helped steady things, it is not entirely ruled out that Real Madrid go into the market for a new centre-back, especially with it being unknown as to how Militao will return after two ACL surgeries.
To that end, Le Parisien reports that Real Madrid have Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate on their agenda as a potential target for the summer.

The 25-year-old French international will enter the final year of his contract at Anfield this summer and renewal talks are yet to progress, leading to speculations about his future.
PSG were also said to be interested in Konate, along with Real Madrid. But the aforementioned report states that the French champions have denied those rumours and are not in the running to sign the Liverpool star.
The Premier League giants, for their part, have tabled a contract extension offer for Konate, hoping to keep him at Anfield for many more years. But the 25-year-old is yet to respond to the proposal.
The former RB Leipzig star is a player with a lot of experience at the highest level while his best years are still ahead of him. That, coupled with the contract situation, could make him an attractive prospect for Real Madrid.
However, as things stand, Los Blancos are showing a much more concrete interest in Konate’s compatriot and Arsenal star William Saliba.
