Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez will reportedly miss the upcoming Serie A showdown against fierce rivals AC Milan.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Argentine striker will not be available for Sunday’s clash at San Siro.

Cristian Chivu lost his most prolific striker to a calf injury during Inter’s 3-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Champions League playoff tie.

Therefore, El Toro was not in contention for the return fixture as the Norwegians stunned then Nerazzurri 2-1 on Italian soil.

Furthermore, he wasn’t at Chivu’s disposal for the last two Serie A games against Lecce and Genoa.

Despite Inter’s faint hopes of having their standout center-forward back for the Milan derby, Lautaro Martinez will not recover in time.

Instead, the 28-year-old is looking to return for Inter’s away clash against Fiorentina in late March.

Therefore, Chivu will be without the Serie A leading goalscorer when Inter take on Atalanta at San Siro on March 14.

Meanwhile, it’ll be up to Marcus Thuram and Francesco Pio Esposito to fill the void.
