Arsenal are preparing to make a defining move in the transfer market, one that would reverberate from north London to the Spanish capital. Reports claim the Gunners have tabled a €100million offer, around £87million, to prise Arda Guler away from Real Madrid. It is a bold statement of intent from a club that has spent recent seasons building patiently under Mikel Arteta, and now looks ready to accelerate its pursuit of European dominance.
The Turkish playmaker has begun to find his rhythm at the Santiago Bernabeu, and that only heightens the intrigue. Spanish outlet Fichajes says Arsenal have offered €100million and have “pulled out all the stops” to land the Turkish sensation. That language reflects a recruitment drive that has become increasingly assertive, and it also hints at how seriously Arsenal view Guler as a long term cornerstone rather than a short term punt.
There is a sense that this deal could define the coming window. Guler is set to become one of the “biggest debates” of the summer transfer window, and despite his significant progress at Real Madrid, his future could lie away from the Spanish capital. Arsenal believe timing matters, as do opportunity and trust, and they are keen to move before rivals turn interest into firm offers.

At £87million, the valuation sits in rarefied air for Arsenal. Only Declan Rice has cost more in the club’s history, and that outlay was justified by immediate impact and leadership. Guler offers something different, a creative force who can unlock packed defences and tilt matches with a single action. The club clearly feels his value is unlikely to dip, especially after he has been called a “future Ballon d’Or winner”.
Arteta’s recruitment team have been closely monitoring Guler’s progress for months, and believe he would fit their style of play perfectly. The emphasis on technical security, positional intelligence and controlled aggression suits a player described as a “game-changer”. There is also a romantic thread to this pursuit, with Arsenal quietly hopeful he could follow in the footsteps of Mesut Ozil and become a conductor in red and white.
For Arteta, adding Guler would deepen a squad already built to compete across competitions. Arsenal were the first side to win all eight of their games in the Champions League league phase, a run that has placed them among the favourites for the trophy. Those results are a compelling sales pitch to any elite player, and especially to one seeking a platform to be the big fish in a big pond.
This is where Arsenal’s recent form comes into sharp focus. Success in Europe brings both credibility and cash, and it also signals that the project has moved beyond promise into delivery. The Gunners will be hoping to at least win the Premier League this season, and a marquee signing such as Guler would underline that ambition in a way few moves could.
They have not signed a player of Guler’s reputation from another elite European club since Pierre Emerick Aubameyang arrived in 2018, and before that Ozil from Real Madrid 13 years ago. Landing a prized asset from the Bernabeu would represent another step in Arsenal’s evolution, from domestic contenders to a club that can go toe to toe with the continental giants.
For Real Madrid, the decision is complex. They value Guler highly, yet the club is rarely immune to vast offers. For Arsenal, the calculation is simpler. Invest now in a generational talent, back Arteta’s vision, and give the team a creative heartbeat capable of turning tight nights into triumphant ones. Whether this bid proves decisive remains to be seen, but it has already ensured that the names Arsenal, Real Madrid and Arda Guler will dominate the summer narrative.
