The Blues are expected to be busy this summer, and face a critical window which they can’t afford to get wrong in terms of recruitment.
Chelsea are said to be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s believed they want to add another midfielder and attacker.
It’s been reported new manager Xabi Alonso will have a say in transfers, and some serious reinforcements are required in key areas of the squad.
No European football next season will make it harder to attract the calibre of player required to elevate the squad.
Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the recruitment model will be tweaked this summer, but fans will only believe it when they see action taken.
With doubts over the future of Enzo Fernandez, a new midfielder is a top priority, and the Blues have already agreed a deal with Strasbourg for Valentin Barco.
Chelsea were also linked with Stuttgart’s Stiller, but Phillips has explained via his Substack they aren’t going to be pursue a move due to his lack of pace.
“The Blues have had scouts at a number of his live games ahead of possibly looking to make a move to sign him this summer,” he wrote.
“However, at this point it looks like any Chelsea move to sign him will not happen. There are mostly concerns around Stiller’s lack of pace.
“But as well as that, sources say there is concern around his lack of physicality and adapting to the Premier League.
“His asking price is believed to be around £60m, which would be considered too high for Chelsea.”
