Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa reportedly turned down offers in January to stay at Inter Milan until the end of the season.
According to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, their unwillingness to leave prevented the Nerazzurri from adding a new forward.
Indeed, Inter had tried to sign a new attacker during the winter transfer window.
However, Simone Inzaghi’s side couldn’t convince Arnautovic and Correa to accept offers from interested clubs.
As a result, they pulled the plug on their pursuit of Asensio, who joined Aston Villa on a short-term loan.
Arnautovic rejected his former club, West Ham United, despite his bit-part role under Simone Inzaghi.
However, the Austrian veteran will inevitably depart the San Siro once his contract runs out in June.

The same goes for Correa, another fringe Nerazzurri star.
Correa is on the verge of recovering from a month-long injury but will likely remain Inzaghi’s fourth choice.
Despite his underwhelming stint at Inter, the 30-year-old Argentine drew inquiries from Cagliari.
But negotiations between the clubs never took off.
