Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly considering offering star wingback Denzel Dumfries a new long-term contract.

According to L’Interista, the runaway leaders are keen to eliminate a release clause in the Dutchman’s current deal.

Despite missing a large chunk of the season due to an ankle injury, Denzel Dumfries remains indispensable for the San Siro outfit.

Indeed, summer signing Luis Henrique has faltered in the 29-year-old absence, forcing the club to reconsider their options for next season.

Though Dumfries’ departure at the end of the current campaign seemed inevitable until recently, the former PSV Eindhoven ace could put pen to paper on a new deal.

Inter Milan Eager to Extend Denzel Dumfries Contract

Dumfries’ contract runs until 2028, but there’s a release clause that would allow him to leave for only €25 million in the summer.

Meanwhile, several top European clubs have set their sights on the Dutch wingback.

However, Inter look determined to prevent Dumfries from departing Serie A, as they hope to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Furthermore, they’re reportedly ready to offer him a handsome pay rise to convince him to pledge his future to San Siro.

Indeed, Inter are willing to increase his salary from €4 million net per season to around €5 million if he agrees to sign a new deal.
