Juventus are running out of patience with Dusan Vlahovic as uncertainty over his contract renewal drags on. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turin giants are pressuring their star striker to either put pen to paper on a new deal or pack his bags and move on.
With less than a week left to run on his current contract, Dusan Vlahovic has emerged as one of the sought-after properties on the market. However, Juventus remain hopeful of convincing the 26-year-old to pledge his long-term future to the Allianz Stadium amid growing interest from abroad.
In addition to long-term admirers Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the former Fiorentina center-forward has drawn inquiries from the Premier League. Furthermore, leaving Serie A would likely allow Vlahovic to preserve the lucrative wages he currently commands in Turin.
As one of the league’s highest earners, Vlahovic takes home roughly €12 million net per season. Despite Juventus’ genuine ambition to tie him down to a new deal, they’ve been reluctant to maintain his existing salary package. And that’s been the only reason the player has not renewed his contract until now.
Vlahovic may have had a disappointing season, largely thanks to recurring fitness problems, but he’s still the club’s best striker. Despite featuring in just 19 league matches, the Serbian star scored seven goals, as many as Jonathan David and Lois Openda combined.
With David heavily linked with a summer exit and Openda likely to follow suit, Juventus could find themselves short of options in the final third. Therefore, they’d be well-advised to meet Vlahovic’s wage demands and keep him in Turin beyond the summer.
However, time has become a crucial factor in his long-running saga.
