Only a year after sanctioning Tarik Muharemovic’s permanent move to Sassuolo, Juventus are considering bringing the Bosnian defender back to the club. According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Tuttomercatoweb, the Turin giants are plotting a summer swoop for the 23-year-old.

Muharemovic graduated from the Bianconeri academy after joining the club from Austrian side Wolfsberger in 2021. However, before getting a chance to prove himself at a senior level, he left the Allianz Stadium to continue his development at Sassuolo back in 2024.

After helping the Neroverdi earn Serie A promotion in his first season at the club, Muharemovic completed his permanent transfer to the Mapei Stadium last summer. However, Juventus have retained the right of first refusal and are now seriously entertaining that option.

In addition to Juventus, Serie A champions Inter have also shown interest in the Bosnian starlet, but the record-time Italian champions remain in pole position to secure his services.

Our take on Juventus & Muharemovic

Juventus are likely to part ways with several first-team defenders this summer. Wanted by several Premier League clubs, Juan Cabal could be the first to go. Federico Gatti and Daniele Rugani are also facing uncertain futures as head coach Luciano Spalletti looks to overhaul his underperforming backline.

After proving his Serie A credentials last term, Muharemovic could be an ideal fit. The arrival of former Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali would only facilitate the deal, given that he was the one to take the Ljubljana native to Emilia-Romagna two years ago.

Muharemovic may not be the only notable defensive signing, with Spalletti also setting his sights on John Stones, who bid farewell to Manchester City at the end of last season.
