Galatasaray’s January transfer plans continue to evolve as negotiations across Europe force decisive shifts in strategy. According to reporting from HABERSARIKIRMZI.COM, the Turkish champions have closed the door on some high-profile targets while opening discussions elsewhere, including a potential move involving a Manchester City attacker.

Clear guidance from Atletico Madrid has already shaped Galatasaray’s thinking. Rodop explained that talks over Thiago Almada have ended after firm demands from Spain.
“Atletico Madrid said, ‘We want €32 million’,” Rodop stated.“Negotiations had taken place regarding Thiago Almada. Today, Atletico Madrid communicated their final price. They said, ‘If you pay €32 million, we can sell, we will not loan him.’ Galatasaray then closed the Almada file.”
With that option removed, attention has shifted towards other areas of the squad.
One development of particular interest involves a forward currently contracted to Manchester City. Rodop revealed that contact has been made with the player’s representatives.
“Omar Marmoush’s agent spoke with Gardi. His agent said, ‘We can come to Galatasaray’,” he said.“Fenerbahçe also tried to get involved in this transfer.”
Despite that openness, Galatasaray’s immediate priority appears to lie in midfield rather than attack.

“At Galatasaray, the focus for midfield has completely shifted to Ugarte,” Rodop added.“The outcome for Ugarte and Omar Marmoush will be clearly determined after 28 January.”
Financial considerations remain central to all decisions. Another long-standing target has proven difficult to progress.
“Fofana was not willing from the very beginning,” Rodop said.“Galatasaray have been in talks for a long time. He is not completely off the agenda, but his transfer fee is €23 million and his annual wage expectation is €8 million.”
Domestic negotiations have been equally complex, particularly with Trabzonspor.
“For Oulai, Trabzonspor are asking for €30–35 million and two players,” Rodop explained.
There is movement in the opposite direction too.
“Galatasaray will part ways with Yusuf Demir,” he confirmed.“The club’s management is expected to terminate the young player’s contract by mutual agreement.”
City fans are accustomed to seeing fringe attackers attract interest, particularly from clubs offering guaranteed minutes and continental football.
There is respect for Marmoush’s adaptability and work rate, but also realism. If Galatasaray can offer a clear role, it makes sense for all sides to listen. City supporters would expect any move to be well-structured, protecting future value or control.
What stands out is Galatasaray’s patience. From the outside, City fans will note that nothing here suggests a rushed deal. If Marmoush does move, it will likely be because the pathway suits him, not because City are forcing an exit.
For City, depth remains strong. Supporters would be comfortable with calculated departures, especially when the wider squad balance remains intact. This feels like dialogue rather than decision, and that suits everyone.
