Manchester United’s summer planning is increasingly focused on reshaping midfield, with Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangare emerging as a serious option. According to Caught Offside, the club are preparing for a potential €50m move as they look ahead to life after Casemiro.
The Ivorian international has quietly built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most commanding defensive midfielders this season. His physical presence and tactical awareness have drawn the attention of several clubs, but United’s interest appears particularly strong.

Sources cited by Caught Offside suggest United scouts have been “impressed” by Sangare’s performances for Nottingham Forest.
Standing at 1.91m, the midfielder offers the kind of authority in central areas that many teams crave. His ability to dominate duels and retain composure under pressure has turned him into a vital shield for Forest’s defence.
Reports indicate that United see him as a natural candidate to step into the role currently occupied by Casemiro. While the Brazilian has provided invaluable experience, planning for the next phase of the squad is already underway.
Sangare’s growing influence in the Premier League has strengthened the case for his recruitment.
Forest are aware of Sangare’s rising profile and appear ready to negotiate only at the right price.
Caught Offside report that discussions would likely begin between €45m and €50m. Nottingham Forest signed the midfielder in 2023 for around €35m and will aim to secure a significant profit.
His contract runs until 2028, which gives the club strong leverage in any negotiations.

Interest has extended beyond Manchester United. Bayern Munich and Liverpool have monitored Sangare previously, while Aston Villa and West Ham are also tracking his situation.
Forest could be forced into at least one major sale during the upcoming window. Sangare, Elliot Anderson and Murillo are viewed internally as some of the club’s most valuable assets.
United’s recruitment strategy appears to favour players who combine athleticism with defensive reliability.
Sangare’s performances have led observers to describe him as a “barrier” in front of the defence. That characteristic would align well with the demands of Premier League football, where midfield transitions can define matches.
He may also represent a financially sensible option compared with other midfield targets. Alternatives such as Adam Wharton or Carlos Baleba could command higher fees, while Sangare offers established Premier League experience.
Whether United formalise their interest remains to be seen, but his profile clearly fits the type of midfielder the club may prioritise this summer.
Casemiro’s influence has been enormous since arriving at Old Trafford, yet supporters understand that long term planning is necessary. Finding a midfielder capable of protecting the defence while coping with the pace of the Premier League has become a priority.
Sangare’s physical presence immediately stands out. At 1.91m he provides height, strength and a capacity to dominate midfield duels. Those qualities often prove decisive in matches where United have previously struggled to control transitions.
Fans would also appreciate the idea of signing a player already settled in English football. Adaptation periods can slow new signings, but Sangare has demonstrated that he can handle the Premier League’s intensity.
The reported fee of around €50m would spark debate among supporters. Some would prefer investment in younger prospects, while others might argue that reliability and physical authority are exactly what the midfield requires.
Ultimately, supporters tend to judge signings on their impact once the season begins. If Sangare can bring stability to United’s midfield and shield the defence effectively, many fans would welcome the move as a practical step in rebuilding the team’s spine.
