With Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s long-term injury in the match against Villarreal, FC Barcelona are left without an experienced goalkeeper for the next seven to eight months.

Instead of relying just on Inaki Pena and the two quite young goalkeepers, the Blaugranes have decided to sign a more experienced free agent, and they have already made their choice to sign Wojciech Szczesny to replace Ter Stegen in their squad.

The former Juventus goalkeeper, who has already hung up his boots, is also willing to return to the field and play for Barcelona until the end of this season. Despite their financial problems, the Catalans will not have any problems registering him as they can use up to 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary space to register him, both in La Liga and the Champions League.

SPORT has revealed some of the details of the contract that Szczesny has been offered by Barcelona. Their report claims that the Blaugranes are offering him €3 million in salary till the end of this season, and this aspect has not faced any resistance from any of the involved sides.

In fact, the two parties have arrived at an agreement rather quickly. The Polish shot-stopper was already seduced by the idea of playing for Barcelona, while Lewandowski also helped him make up his mind to accept the Blaugrana proposal.

However, there is still one impediment that Szczesny will have to overcome before being able to sign for Barcelona. He still has to negotiate with Juventus for his return to playing professional football as he still had a year on his contract when he retired.

The Pole is required to return the part of the severance package he has already received from the Italian side if he returns to the pitch. He has already got €2 million of the €6 million agreed and will have to return this amount to Juventus to play for Barcelona.
