Report – Roma Ready to Lodge Huge Bid for Strasbourg Starlet | OneFootball

Roma have reportedly joined Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign sought-after Strasbourg star Diego Moreira. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi have drawn up a formal offer for the Belgium international.

After missing out on European qualification, Strasbourg severed ties with manager Gary O’Neil and are expected to sell several first-team stars in the coming months. Long-serving stalwart Emanuel Emegha has already joined Chelsea, but his exit is likely to be the first of many.

Valentin Barco and Moreira look set to follow in his footsteps and leave the Stade de la Meinau, with the latter pursued by Dortmund and Roma. Meanwhile, the French club is open to selling the 21-year-old midfielder, who made just one World Cup appearance for Belgium this summer.

However, Moreira, who enjoyed another impressive season at Strasbourg, will command a sizeable transfer fee, with the Ligue 1 outfit in no mood to sanction a cut-price sale.

According to Di Marzio, Roma are prepared to put a €30 million bid on the table. Furthermore, they would also include a 10% sell-on clause to sweeten the agreement, hoping to incentivize Strasbourg to give the green light.

Despite barely featuring at the World Cup, Moreira demonstrated huge potential last season. Indeed, he tallied five goals and nine assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. However, those numbers don’t tell the full story.

His pace, close control, and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations have established him as one of the most exciting talents in Ligue 1. With Roma set to return to the Champions League, they could use a player of his quality.

In the meantime, Moreira’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is already working behind the scenes to facilitate the transfer.
