Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi was the first prominent club member to appear for the hearings in the infamous ultras case.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Calciomercato, Inzaghi testified in the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, coordinated by Paolo Storari and Sara Ombra, on Wednesday early afternoon.

Simone Inzaghi is only the first Inter official to appear in court. The investigation over several club fans’ involvement in the mafia business gathers momentum.

Police wiretaps intercepted a phone call between Inzaghi and Curva Nord leader Marco Ferdico ahead of the 2023 Champions League final.

It was an innocuous conversation. Ferdico and the Nerazzurri head coach only discussed match tickets for the Istanbul showpiece.

The former reportedly asked the 48-year-old coach to provide Inter fans with more seats at the stadium.

However, it showed a link between the ultras and high-profile club members.

Therefore, Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti is the next household name expected to appear in court.

In addition to the Inter staff, several former and current players are also part of the police investigation.

Paris Saint-Germain center-back Milan Skriniar will soon have to give a statement.

The same goes for Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu.

Meanwhile, Milan captain Davide Calabria could be the first Rossoneri player to be brought in for questioning.

Police conducted a comprehensive search of numerous houses around the San Siro area last week.

Besides Ferdico, several other Inter and Milan fans are currently behind bars, awaiting trials.

Many of them reportedly hold close ties to the notorious mafia syndicate ‘Ndrangheta.

Given their intimate relationship with the high-ranking members of both clubs, Inter and Milan can’t rest easy.

Both teams have already offered their ‘full’ cooperation in the investigation, hoping to clear their names.
