Enzo Maresca has been accused of not being prepared to stray away from his principles, but he did one thing against Leicester which showed he can be versatile according to journalist Rahman Osman.
Chelsea returned to the top four with a hard fought 1-0 win against the Foxes, with Marc Cucurella scoring the only goal of the game with a brilliant strike on the hour mark.
The result was more comfortable than the scoreline suggested, and the Blues could have won by a wider margin had Cole Palmer not missed a first half penalty.
It was a huge three points for Chelsea, which meant a lot to Maresca as he celebrated on the pitch with his players.
The Italian explained the reason for the celebrations when speaking after the game, and the importance of these three points can’t be underestimated.
There’s been frustration in recent weeks from supporters with how Chelsea are playing, and the first half on Sunday wouldn’t have done much to change that.

Maresca has often been accused of being too stubborn and not willing to switch things up, but Osman has highlighted what he did that showed his versatility.
He reported in Four Four Two that with five minutes remaining Maresca shouted at Sanchez to go long rather than play out from the back.
Maresca has insisted on several occasions this season if the keeper goes long he will replace them, whilst he said the same after the Leicester game about Enzo Fernandez if he didn’t pass backwards.

This incident does show he’s prepared to switch things up in a game if the situation dictates, but fans are likely going to want to see a lot more before they are fully convinced he’s a versatile manager.
Next up for Chelsea and Maresca are two games this week, the first against Copenhagen in the Conference League on Thursday, before a huge game away at Arsenal on Sunday.
