Serie A giants Inter Milan have received a double injury boost ahead of Sunday’s daunting trip to Tuscany to face Fiorentina.
According to Sky Sports via FCInterNews, Francesco Acerbi and Davide Frattesi could return to the squad on Friday.
Both players were on the sidelines last night when Simone Inzaghi’s side eked out a precious 1-0 win against RB Leipzig.
Despite being forced to suffer for most of the game, Inter claimed another sterling UEFA Champions League triumph.
However, there’s no time for celebration.
Stranded a point adrift of league leaders Napoli, the reigning Scudetto holders head to Florence this weekend.
With Fiorentina running riot under Raffaele Palladino, Inzaghi needs all the help he can get to return home victorious.
Stars may have aligned to further Inter’s cause ahead of this heavily anticipated top-four six-pointer.
Indeed, Acerbi and Frattesi could be ready for the upcoming trip to Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Acerbi started Inter’s last Serie A match against Hellas Verona.
However, a muscle problem forced him off after only 15 minutes, with Stefan de Vrij taking his place.
The Dutch defender deputized for the Italian veteran against Leipzig and will likely do the same on Sunday.
But that’s only if Acerbi fails to regain full fitness.
Per the report, he’ll probably return to training on Friday. From there, everything else will be up to Inzaghi.
Indeed, the Inter Milan manager must decide whether to take unnecessary risks with his first-team stalwart.
Frattesi is in an identical situation. He skipped yesterday’s clash with a minor ankle problem.
Piotr Zielinski and Nicolo Barella shined in his absence.
Therefore, there’s no reason to panic.
Having Acerbi and Frattesi back would be massive for Inzaghi, but Inter can manage just fine without them as well.
They’ve emerged victorious from their last four league visits to Fiorentina.
