Tottenham Hotspur appear to have chanced their arm with a cheeky and frankly laughable attempt to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham United—offering Yves Bissouma in a swap deal that was swiftly rejected.
Despite Fabrizio Romano insisting this morning that Spurs are not actively trying to offload Bissouma, Claret & Hugh have been told otherwise by their top transfer source. The midfielder, on a reported £100,000-a-week and now approaching 30, was apparently offered to West Ham during Spurs’ casual enquiry about Paquetá’s availability.
“He was offered as a loan swap when Spurs asked about Paquetá. It had no chance.”
The same source also confirmed that Daniel Levy, in his final days at Spurs, tried to include Bissouma in an audacious proposal for Mohammed Kudus earlier this summer. Both attempts were treated with the contempt they deserved.
West Ham had no interest in parting with Paquetá, particularly under such absurd conditions. The Brazilian is viewed as a key figure by new boss Graham Potter, and following the collapse of his proposed move to Manchester City, the player himself is understood to be focused on rebuilding his form in claret and blue.
As for Bissouma—he may well be available, but it won’t be to us. West Ham’s midfield rebuild has been focused on youth, mobility, and dare I say competency—and while Bissouma once thrived under Potter at Brighton, that ship has long since sailed.
