Liverpool were left frustrated at Anfield as Tottenham earned a deserved 1-1 draw in the Premier League, Richarlison striking in the closing moments to deny the home side victory. Arne Slot’s team had looked set to edge back towards the top four after Dominik Szoboszlai’s early free kick, yet Tottenham’s persistence eventually brought reward.
For Liverpool, the result felt like an opportunity lost. For Tottenham, battling through injuries and suspension concerns, it was a valuable point and a performance that restored belief.
Liverpool began with purpose and soon found their breakthrough. In the 18th minute Szoboszlai stepped up over a free kick just outside the Tottenham area. His strike had pace and direction, yet it also carried a hint of fortune as Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario misjudged its flight.

Vicario managed to get a hand to the effort but could not keep it out. The ball slipped past him and into the net, giving Liverpool the advantage and energising Anfield.
Slot’s selection also raised eyebrows before kick off. Mohamed Salah began the match on the bench while 17 year-old Rio Ngumoha was handed his first Premier League start. The youngster embraced the challenge with confidence and enthusiasm, offering moments of direct running and creativity that lifted the home crowd.
Ngumoha’s display provided encouragement for Liverpool supporters searching for attacking invention. The teenager repeatedly took on defenders, showing sharp control and a willingness to shoot when space appeared.
His movement brought unpredictability to Liverpool’s forward play. At times he looked the most imaginative attacker on the pitch, an impressive achievement for a player experiencing his first start in the Premier League.

Yet Liverpool’s wider performance lacked the same spark. Too often the tempo dropped, possession was recycled without penetration, and Tottenham gradually grew into the contest.
Tottenham arrived at Anfield under strain, with Igor Tudor searching for stability after a difficult run and a heavy midweek defeat in Europe. Despite missing numerous players through injury and suspension, Spurs showed determination.
Richarlison led their attack with tireless energy. The Brazilian tested Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on several occasions, first with a powerful effort that demanded a strong save, then with a header that drifted narrowly wide.
As the match moved into its final stages Tottenham sensed the opportunity. Liverpool struggled to regain control and Spurs continued to push forward.
The equaliser arrived in the 90th minute. Randal Kolo Muani collected the ball and slipped a pass into Richarlison’s path. The striker reacted quickly, guiding the ball past Alisson and silencing much of Anfield.
Richarlison celebrated with clear emotion, cupping his ear toward sections of the crowd who had jeered him because of his past links with Everton.
Liverpool had hoped the victory would lift them closer to the Premier League top four. Instead they were left reflecting on a performance that never fully convinced.
Ngumoha’s promising debut offered a glimpse of Liverpool’s future, yet the team struggled to sustain attacking intensity. Tottenham’s persistence, and Richarlison’s late intervention, ensured the points were shared.
When the final whistle sounded there was clear frustration around Anfield. Liverpool had led for much of the evening but could not close the match out. Tottenham departed with a valuable result and renewed confidence after a difficult period.
In a Premier League season defined by narrow margins, Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham felt significant for both sides, one searching for momentum, the other grateful for resilience.
