Enrique Riquelme has intensified Real Madrid’s presidential campaign with a giant banner in Salamanca alleging the club is for sale. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, it shows the Santiago Bernabéu with a For sale sign alongside Florentino Pérez’s name.

The image appeared on Thursday at Calle Velázquez 106, on the corner with Calle Diego de León. With four days to go until Sunday’s vote in Valdebebas, the banner war between the candidates has escalated.

The race began in a moderate tone, but recent days have brought sharper exchanges, with each side questioning the other’s proposals.

Also on Thursday, Riquelme said on El Hormiguero that he had an agreement with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and with Rodrigo Hernández, to join if he wins the election.

The claim was followed by denials from the Norwegian’s camp and from the English club about any such deal. Riquelme has not backed down.

Many recall Luis Figo’s public denial before later completing his move under Florentino Pérez’s then-novel candidacy.
