The ‘league phase’ of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League will get underway in a couple of weeks, and there are some enticing fixtures coming our way – one of which happens to be the battle between FC Barcelona and PSG.

The reigning La Liga champions square off against the current French and European champions on October 1 in what will be a blockbuster encounter.

Injury concerns for PSG a month before Barcelona trip

However, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, PSG are also struggling with injury setbacks a few weeks away from their trip to Barcelona, with two of their key players suffering fitness problems.

During France’s World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on Friday, Ousmane Dembele suffered an injury after coming on at half-time to replace his PSG teammate, Desire Doue, who had already been forced off with problems.

As such, the participation of both players is now in doubt for the Champions League clash against Barcelona on 1 October, just one month away.

Dembele had already been dealing with discomfort in the back of his right thigh, which is why he started on the bench. However, once he came onto the pitch, he noticed something was wrong and soon asked to be substituted.

It is confirmed that he will not feature for Les Bleus against Iceland next week. Reports in France suggest that the injury could be significant and that the ex-Barcelona winger may miss additional matches. His European debut against Atalanta is also in doubt.

As for Doue, he had to leave the pitch with a calf injury. The extent and duration of his absence are not yet known, but concerns remain over his situation.

These problems add to the setback of PSG coach Luis Enrique, who recently suffered a clavicle injury in a cycling accident.
