Riyad Mahrez has left Al-Ahli a little over 24 hours after he announced his international retirement early on Friday.
According to L'Équipe, Algeria were beaten 2-0 by Switzerland in the World Cup last 16. The 35-year-old leaves the national team with 120 caps and 40 goals.
The club's statement followed on Saturday, three years after his move to Saudi Arabia.
During his spell he won the AFC Champions League in 2025 and 2026, and the Saudi Super Cup in 2025.
He made 122 appearances for Al-Ahli, scoring 37 and providing 46 assists. The former Leicester player has not commented on the decision, and no next destination has been indicated.
