Rob Edwards has indicated that Joao Gomes, Jose Sa and Hwang Hee-chan may have played their final matches for Wolves after the draw at Burnley.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Gomes missed the trip to Turf Moor with a knee issue and Wolves have been in talks with Atletico Madrid about a move. An agreement is expected now the season has finished, which would end the Brazilian’s three-and-a-half years at the club.
Edwards said Gomes felt his knee and did not train the day before, so they chose not to involve him. He added that Bellegarde was unwell, prompting late changes.
Sa, who joined in 2021, waved goodbye to fans as Wolves finished bottom of the Premier League. Nottingham Forest had a £1.5 million offer rejected in January and several clubs are likely to be keen, after he made a series of strong second-half saves at Burnley. Edwards described Sunday as potentially Sa’s final outing and said they will see what happens next.
Hwang made his 150th, and possibly final, Wolves appearance from the start at Burnley, then joined the squad in applauding the away end. Edwards said the South Korean was emotional, praised his work-rate and stressed that his future will be resolved in due course.
Wolves anticipate a significant turnover this summer, with sales and new arrivals expected before their first Championship campaign in eight seasons.
