Major League Soccer looks set to add another iconic veteran presence to its ranks this summer, with Polish legend Robert Lewandowski reportedly primed for a move to Chicago Fire.

Per The Athletic, the 37-year-old striker has agreed to a two-year deal with the Eastern Conference outfit, with Lewandowski set to become one of the league's highest-paid players in the process.

Speaking on the possible move earlier this month, Director of Football and head coach Gregg Berhalter said "We’re trying to recruit world-class players. We think (Lewandowski would) be a great signing not only for the Chicago Fire, but for the league, to have a player of that caliber."

"We see him right up there with Messi in terms of ability, and it’d be great for the city of Chicago."

The Warsaw-born striker, who has enjoyed immense success on the European and international stage, will arrive in the Windy City after netting 662 goals across over a combined 900 appearances for Znicz Pruszków, Lech Poznań, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, banking 33 major honours in the process.

Lewandowski, unsurprisingly, is Poland's all-time leader in caps (167) and goals (89), featuring for Biało-Czerwoni in both the 2018 and 2022 World Cups along the way.
