Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Rodri is getting back to his best, and his performances are clear for everyone to see.
The Spaniard has had multiple long injuries over the last 18 months, but has been back and playing consistently for a few weeks now, and Guardiola said it is nice to see the Ballon d’Or winner playing well.
“Finally it has happened like we wanted it to happen a long time ago. He has come back and had a consistent routine. Now we are playing a lot of games and long travel times. Fatigue is involved. We are traveling to Madrid, then come back.
“Travel to London, that is four or five hours to the hotel all the time. So, we have to use all the squad otherwise it will not be possible to play in the rhythm that we want to play.
“Step by step Rodri is getting better and better (in performances). Everybody knows it.”
City next take on Newcastle United in the FA Cup, a team they have played four times already this season. Guardiola’s side have won three of those meetings.
Asked what it is like playing the same team so many times, the Spaniard said: “It is what it is. We know each other quite well. We know each other. We have played Newcastle and Eddie Howe so many times, not even just this season. We have played them a lot.”
City will be hoping Nico O’Reilly is back for the cup game, and Guardian said he will be assessed today. “Nico O’Reilly feels better. We will see today.”

City have a busy schedule, with two games against Real Madrid in the Champions League to come very soon, but the City boss insisted he will be fully focused on the game against Newcastle.
“We have played a lot of semi-finals and finals in the last few years. The FA Cup is so important. That means we are going to try and win the game and go to the next round. 100%.”
