Rodrygo’s sale could open the door for a Real Madrid Premier League transfer swoop | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid are this week again being linked with a move for a member of the midfield ranks at Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

The player in question? Adam Wharton.

Youngster Wharton’s name has of course been a prominent one in the chatter surrounding Real Madrid for some time now.

As much comes with the 21-year-old understood to have been identified as a leading transfer target on the part of those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, Wharton is considered the ideal profile.

For the time being, a move swoop for the England international is not on the cards for Los Blancos, who have already spent big on the likes of Dean Huijsen and Franco Mastantuono this summer.

In the case of a sale being sanctioned, perhaps for the transfer-linked Rodrygo, however, Wharton’s name could quickly come back into play.

As per a report from Diario AS:

‘The problem is the price. For less than €80 million, Crystal Palace won’t pick up the phone. Hence, Chamartín won’t activate the mechanisms for this summer unless there’s a major sale… Like Rodrygo.’
