Roma are finally closing in on filling their vacant CEO position with one of the early candidates for the job, Inter’s Alessandro Antonello. He’s tipped to win the race over Sky executive Marzio Perrelli. The Giallorossi are waiting for his formal exit from the Nerazzurri before making the announcement, Il Messaggero informs (via Calcio e Finanza).
Owners Ryan and Dan Friedkin ultimately opted for somebody with experience in football. Lina Souloukou stepped down in September also due to the fan backlash following Daniele De Rossi’s ousting. She was recently hired by Nottingham Forest.
Antonello is expected to join Roma on February 1st. The first order of business will be Niccolò Pisilli and Mile Svilar’s renewals. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche and started working in sports in 2011 as financial director of Puma Italy. He was hired by Inter in 2015 and progressively moved up the corporate ladder. The director was initially retained by Oaktree, but they are quietly overhauling the front office compared to the Steven Zhang era.
Claudio Ranieri dished on the January window talking to Corriere dello Sport.

There’ll surely be some departures. The additions will have to abide by the Financial Fair Play parameters.” “The governors want to do well and bring Roma to the top. The Americans don’t like to speak in public. They delegate the tasks to the people they choose. If things don’t go well, they change them.”
