Roma has set its sights on Alajbegovic.
The 18-year-old Bosnian, who helped Italy eliminate the World Cup playoffs, can either stay at Bayer Leverkusen, which spent €8 million on his return from Salzburg, or he can experience firsthand the football he sent to hell.
The Roman club hopes Miralem Pjanic’s moral suasion will be enough to overcome the European competition.
Alajbegovic has scored 11 goals and provided three assists this season, impressive performances.
The Giallorossi are confident in the player’s qualities, whose value has skyrocketed to around €20 million.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, the strategy is clear: Massara will save the €13.5 million from Zaragoza’s buyout and invest it in the 2007-born player.
Furthermore, Dan Friedkin is always keen to invest in players under 24, so much so that in the last year and a half he has spent more than €200 million on players under the age of 25.
The Alajbegovic deal, therefore, has the ownership’s approval.
However, first, the matter needs to be explored further with Bayer Leverkusen, currently sixth in the league and in a decline compared to the Xabi Alonso era. If the interests converge, it won’t be a problem of resources.
