Roma Examining Midfielders Ahead of Likely Big Exit

Roma are set for a busy and complex summer, and the club’s ambitions remain sky high, but they are also in a difficult financial spot, considering a previous settlement agreement with UEFA, and some stingier FIGC rules, Corriere dello Sport informs.

Due to past FFP violations, the Giallorossi can be in the red for no more than €60M over the last three years combined. That will lead to at least one substantial departure before June 30th. The top candidates are Mile Svilar, Evan N’Dicka, Wesley, and Manu Koné.

The midfielder is in high demand, and Inter aren’t his only suitors. Roma are quietly assessing some replacements, like for Sassuolo’s Ismael Koné and Venezia’s Issa Doumbia. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former could quickly depart the Neroverdi after a strong maiden campaign in Italy. On the other hand, his side has always been an expensive boutique.

Per TuttoSport (via TeleRadioStereo), the Giallorossi have been scouting the Lagunari starlet very attentively, like Milan and Inter. He has totaled 6 goals and 4 assists in 31 Serie B appearances this year, making a leap relative to his previous season in the top flight, which he reached directly from the third division. He wasn’t a regular but starred in 24 matches in 2024/2025.

Our Take on Roma

Deciding who to sacrifice and who’s the easiest to replace won’t be an easy call. The market will probably dictate which direction to choose, based on the offers. Koné is great on his day, but they are in a better spot in the midfield, given the growth of Niccolò Pisilli and with Neil El Aynaoui progressively settling in, compared to other roles.
