Ivan Juric will have a couple more chances to save his Roma job, as the owners haven’t found a replacement they completely like yet. In the meantime, the management is preparing for a busy January. A few players who have struggled or have short-term contracts are expected to leave, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
Leandro Paredes and Nicola Zalewski are tied to the Giallorossi only until the end of the season. The former has lost his starting job. His deal won’t be renewed, as his salary is too high. He may return to Boca Juniors in the winter already.
The Polish wing-back has been reinstated and played consistently following an early exile since he turned down a bid from Galatasaray. On the other hand, his performances have left a lot to be desired. Moreover, there has been no progress in the extension talks. Roma don’t want to risk losing him for nothing in June.
Mats Hummels is dissatisfied with his lack of playing time and could ask out. Samuel Dahl hasn’t seen the pitch after a €4M transfer and could depart on loan. Eldor Shomurodov prolonged his contract but could be sold if the front office finds a better deputy for Artem Dovbyk. In addition, the Giallorossi are searching for a right-back since Saud Abdulhamid hasn’t been able to adapt and Zeki Celik has been underwhelming.
There’ll be a natural overhaul, as a few veterans with large wages mustn’t be happy with what’s going on. Still, it’s early considering it’s unclear who their coach will be and how he’ll play. They’ll have to consider that more than in the summer to fix things.
