Roma wanted to sign another speedy attacker in the summer but wasted too much time pursuing Jadon Sancho and didn’t have a proper fallback plan. They’ll try again in January, provided the price is right.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they’ll take a close look at Arnar Haraldsson during the upcoming Europa League clash with Lille. He’s worth around €20M and makes just €600k per year. He moved to France from Copenhagen for €15M two years ago. The 22-year-old has tallied 5 goals and 3 assists in 82 matches with Les Dogues and has 24 caps with Iceland, scoring thrice.
Roma are canvassing the market looking for bargains. They have shortlisted Myron Boadu, who signed a short-term contract upon moving from Monaco to PSV. He hit the net nine times during a loan spell to Bochum in the past campaign.
The Giallorossi made an attempt for Leandro Trossard on deadline day, but he was too expensive. He stayed at Arsenal despite some interest from Saudi Arabia. He remains on their radar, but he’s a regular in London. The capital club is also keeping tabs on George Ilenikhena, as the future of Artem Dovbyk and Evan Ferguson isn’t so sure for different reasons.
It’s remarkable that they have been so effective while leaning on a very shortened rotation due to injury. Gian Piero Gasperini realized early and toned down the aggression, and it has worked out so far. Still, he likes to have as many offensive weapons as possible. Their level of urgency will hinge on whether Paulo Dybala and Leon Bailey will hold up physically after returning.
