Among the bright spots in Roma’s first half of the season is undoubtedly Mario Hermoso.
The Spanish defender, loaned out last season to Bayer Leverkusen, was reinstated with the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini and quickly established himself as a starting player alongside Mancini and Ndicka.
The former Atlético Madrid player played 15 league games, finding the net in the 2-1 win at the Olimpico against Parma.
The centre-back also found the net in the last Coppa Italia match against Torino, a 3-2 loss that resulted in elimination from the competition.
According to today’s edition of Il Messaggero, the Giallorossi management is interested in extending the 30-year-old’s contract, which expires in 2027.
The intention is to spread his salary over a longer period.
This move would allow the club to better manage its budget, mitigating the financial impact of a significant contract while also strengthening its position with the defender.
