Ismael Bennacer is about to seal a deadline day move away from AC Milan as a deal has been agreed with Marseille, reports claimed.
Earlier this morning it emerged that Marseille had repeated exactly what they did in the last summer transfer window: submitting a bid for Bennacer right at the end of the mercato, and hoping that the player would push.
A report earlier today from Calciomercato.com even claimed that the situation had provoked ‘tension’. Milan were unhappy with the timing of the approach and that Bennacer made it clear he wanted to leave, with little time left to find a replacement.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the Bennacer to Olympique Marseille deal his famous ‘here we go!’ stamp. A verbal agreement in place with Milan over a €1m loan fee plus an €12m option to buy clause which is not mandatory.
There will be €3m in potential bonuses which would take the total package to €16m. Bennacer has been pushing a lot today to join the Ligue 1 club after talks with Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia, the directors for l’OM.
In the meantime, Milan are believed to be lining up Warren Bondo of Monza as his replacement, with an agreement apparently close on that front.
