Romero inspires Corinthians dressing room in win over Vitória

With a goal from midfielder Charles in the final stretch of the second half, Corinthians secured their second consecutive win in the Brazilian Championship by defeating Vitória 1-0 at Barradão Stadium, in a match valid for the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship. The result placed the Alvinegro in tenth position with 39 points (10 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses – 32 goals scored and 35 conceded).

Just over a day after the victory, Corinthians released behind-the-scenes footage of the match on their official YouTube channel. The video begins by showing the players arriving in the Barradão locker rooms. Later, some of them are shown preparing for the warm-up process on the pitch, with some appearing more relaxed and others more reserved.

Shortly before heading to the pitch, Corinthians' physical trainer, Reverson Pimentel, led an activation session with the players still in the locker room and offered words of encouragement. Moments before heading out to the field, Dorival Júnior, Fabinho Soldado, Raniele, Charles, Gustavo Henrique, and Ángel Romero were among those who spoke words of motivation, emphasizing the importance of the match in pursuit of higher positions in the Brasileirão.

After the match, goalkeeper Felipe Longo, who played his second match as a professional for Corinthians, commented on the victory: “My first win as a starter couldn't have been a different game, a tough game, a game in the Corinthians style. Their team is very organized, they knew how to take advantage of counterattacks and aerial balls, but thank God we came together. It wasn’t about technique, it was about grit and we managed to get a great result.”

In the post-game huddle in the locker room, even without having played, forward Ángel Romero took the floor and highlighted the importance of two consecutive wins, something that until then was unprecedented for the team in this edition of the Brazilian Championship.

“A win no matter what. Sometimes we can enjoy the game, play well, play badly, but the most important thing today was our challenge, because we committed ourselves this week, this thing about us not winning two games in a row, and it was important to win today no matter what.”

“We didn't play very well, but with everyone fighting, everyone running, we are on the right path, and we always have to go in with this winning mentality. We went in with the mentality to win, to always move forward to get the result, and we did it. Congratulations to everyone,” he said.

The Alvinegro will now return to the pitch only next Sunday, November 2, at 4pm (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, in a match for the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship.
