Real Madrid have seen several of their players exit the 2026 World Cup at the group stages, but many are still involved. Among them is Kylian Mbappe, who has four goals and two assists in his opening three matches in North America.

Many believe that Mbappe will be one of the most decisive players during the World Cup knockout stages, and included in this is Ronaldo Nazario. As per Marca, the former Real Madrid and Brazil striker spoke highly of the France international during a recent interview with L’Equipe.

“Mbappé’s style of play reminds me of myself at my best. He is one of the best in football today and a natural heir to the legends of this sport.”

Ronaldo was also asked about Brazil, but despite notching four goals and one assist during the group stages, he does not see Vinicius Junior as being the Selecao’s most decisive player – instead, he gave that title to Neymar Junior.

“I was in favour for a good reason: Neymar is decisive. I don’t see another player in the current group with the same ability as him to win a game. So if we could count on him, we shouldn’t miss the opportunity. He got permission from doctors, he’s in good shape, and now he has a chance to silence all those who didn’t believe in him.”

Mbappe and Vinicius have been at their best in North America

It may have been a tough 2025-26 season for both Mbappe and Vinicius, given that they were unable to guide Real Madrid to any success, but at the World Cup, their fortunes have so far been drastically better. They have been among the best performers during the group stages, and they will hope to carry on their form when they are back in action during the round of 16.
