Brice Samba produced six saves to keep Rennes in it. Les Canaris mustered 24 attempts, eight on target, but were repeatedly denied.

Lepaul thought he had restored the lead, but his finish was ruled out after a VAR review (59.). Then, following a corner, Rongier drilled low into the bottom right in the second minute of second half stoppage time.

Nine minutes were indicated at the end, and the game's decisive moment arrived in that added spell. Rennes saw 62.8% of the ball.

Next, Rennes visit Lyon. Les Canaris host Marseille.
