Liam Rosenior is taking his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Wolves this weekend, and while there are a few interesting things to cover, the most important updates, as always, were on the fitness of players.
After an update on Reece James and Pedro Neto, Rosenior had some bad news about Jamie Gittens, who was subbed off in the first half against West Ham last weekend.
“Jamie is a more long-term injury. He’s got a tear in his hamstring which is a real shame for him,” the manager revealed. That’s brutal.

With Gittens now out, the importance of having our best attackers fit is intensified. Rosenior was asked about Cole Palmer and Estevao, who only arrived as second half subs against Arsenal. Asked if they were ready to play 90 minutes this weekend, the coach simply replied “yes.”
Asked for more detail about the management of their minutes, the coach explained:
“What we’re doing not just with Cole, but all of the players, is doing the right tests. We are making sure these players can play at the level they need to be. He’s been magnificent, he wants to play every minute of every game, but he’s also maturing as a human being and understands the bigger picture.”
Rosenior also had updates on Reece James and Pedro Neto, who look far more likely to be fit and ready to play at the weekend when we take on Wolves after missing Tuesday’s game with Arsenal with “knocks.”
Liam Delap has not impressed at Chelsea overall, and a poor performance on the wing on Tuesday has raised yet more questions. One pundit is suggesting that he should have taken a stepping stone move to a mid-table team.
