Rothrock seals Seattle Sounders victory over rival Vancouver Whitecaps

SPOKANE, Wash. – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with Seattle Sounders FC earning a 2-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Second Leg of their Round of 16 series, winning 5-1 on aggregate, on Wednesday at One Spokane Stadium in Spokane, Washington, USA.
Seattle Sounders entered the match with a 3-nil advantage after taking the victory in the first leg in Vancouver, Canada.
Jeevan Badwal closed the gap for Whitecaps FC in the 24’, sending a left-footed banger from the edge of the area.
Seattle regained the three-goal advantage thanks to a header in the box by Danny Musovski in the 79’.
The hosts added one more goal in the 83’ after a great collective play that found Paul Rothrock in the box for the finish.
Seattle Sounders FC advances to the Quarterfinals. The reigning Leagues Cup champions will face the winners of the series between FC Cincinnati and Tigres UANL.

• Seattle Sounders are unbeaten in their last four Concacaf Champions Cup matches when conceding first (W1 D2 L1). This was their first win in that span.
• Seattle Sounders had less possession (40% to 60%), fewer total shots (11 to 14), and fewer shots on target (4 to 5) than Vancouver Whitecaps. However, they generated more expected goals (1.3 xG to 1.2 xG).

• Danny Musovski’s equalizer was Seattle Sounders’ fifth headed goal in the Concacaf Champions Cup since 2017. Among MLS clubs in that span, only Philadelphia Union (7) have scored more headed goals.
