Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledged this week that his squad could undergo further strengthening in the January transfer window.
Following their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, Amorim admitted there are potential areas for improvement.
Particular in the attacking position, where Benjamin Sesko suffered an injury against Tottenham.
Although the full extent of the injury is still not known but if the injury turns out to be a serious one for the Red Devils, they would have to step into the market to sign a new attacker.
“We have to check everything, we have to check what’s happened with Ben,” he said after the Tottenham draw, as reported by Manchester World.
“Of course we are going to have a problem there (AFCON), but we already knew, you can prepare in summer, but then you have a lot of players who are not going to play because it’s one game a week, so the manage of that situation is going to be hard, so let’s see when the window is open if we can improve the team and trying to repair something that happened. Until then we have to take the chance. We’ll see.”
Amorim’s comments mark a significant departure from Man United’s usual winter strategy.
Traditionally, the club has adopted a cautious approach during the January window, often prioritising stability over disruption.

However, the Portuguese coach’s upfront remarks suggest a shift in mindset.
With Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo both expected to leave the club next year to participate in the AFCON, United might be short in attack and the January transfer window could be used as the time to add more depth to the squad.
The summer saw a major spending spree, club sources place total summer investment around £230 million, with big-name arrivals like Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko. Yet, squad depth remains an issue.
The Red Devils have the option of Joshua Zirkzee as well but he is someone that Amorim does not trust.
