More details are emerging around Manchester United‘s appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.

The latest new era at Old Trafford will not begin until November 11 because Amorim is fulfilling his obligations to his current club, Sporting CP, meaning he will oversee three more games, including a Champions League tie against Manchester City next week before heading to the Premier League.

Therefore, the 39-year-old's first game in charge of the Red Devils will be against Ipswich Town on November 24 straight after the final international break of the calendar year.

And in a statement announcing Amorim's departure, Sporting have detailed the fee paid by Man United to secure Amorim's services.

"Sporting SAD has reached an agreement with Manchester United FC regarding terms and conditions of coach Ruben Amorim's departure, in return for which MUFC will pay Sporting SAD Euro 11,000,000 (£9.2million)," it reads.

"Furthermore, Sporting SAD will have a benefit of Euro 1,658,000 (£1.4m) relating to the extinction of credit rights, recorded as liabilities and contingent liabilities, as a result of the revocation and renegotiation of contracts relating to intermediation fees."

The extra £1.4m compensation fee suggests United’s determination to bring in Amorim at whatever cost. Altogether that totals up to £10.6m that INEOS have paid to install Amorim as the club's sixth permanent manager since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
