According to L'Équipe, Ruben Amorim is expected to become AC Milan’s new head coach, six months after his Manchester United dismissal.
The Portuguese is in line for a three-year deal with an option of a fourth, taking him to June 2029. A verbal agreement, described as total, is said to have been reached on Monday.
Regarded as a rising coach in Portugal with Casa Pia and Braga, the 41-year-old then enjoyed sustained success at Sporting between March 2020 and November 2024.
Hired by Manchester United thereafter, he started well before a punishing run led to his sacking on 5 January 2026. He favours a 3-4-2-1 system.
He would now look to reset in Lombardy, following the resignation of Massimiliano Allegri, at a club that narrowly missed Champions League qualification this season.
Milan have seen upheaval, with chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada departing, Moncada being courted in Ligue 1. An imminent arrival of Markus Krösche, Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director, as director of football has also been suggested.
