Ruben Selles has confirmed that Ollie Arblaster has suffered a setback in his road to recovery for Sheffield United.

The Blades are preparing to return to league action on Friday night following the conclusion of the international break.

But the wait for the midfielder’s return to the team is set to go on, as reported by journalist Andy Giddings, with his last appearance coming in November of last year.

The 21-year-old had cemented his place as a key part of the side under Chris Wilder, but an anterior cruciate ligament injury has seen him miss the last 10 months of action.

It has been reported that Selles that Arblaster has suffered a setback in his recovery from his ACL injury.

It’s believed that the midfielder’s return has now been pushed back by a whole month following this latest development.

In even more unfortunate news for Sheffield United, Selles has also been unable to put an exact timeframe on when Arblaster can be expected to make his comeback to the team.

This comes as a blow to the Blades, who have made a miserable start to the new Championship campaign.

Selles will be hoping that the 21-year-old will be able to return sooner rather than later, particularly given the pressure the Spaniard is now under to get results.

Arblaster managed 12 appearances in the Championship last season before his campaign was cut short with injury, with the player earning a reputation as a fan favourite since breaking into the first team squad.

Sheffield United have lost all four of their league games so far this term, with speculation already surrounding the manager’s future.

Arblaster will miss Friday night’s clash against Ipswich Town, with the two sides set to meet at Portman Road in an 8pm kick-off.
