Rui Costa set to renew Miguel Figueiredo’s Benfica deal | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have offered a new contract to Miguel Figueiredo and the 17-year-old is set to accept, with formal confirmation expected in August when he turns 18.

Rui Costa’s hierarchy want to secure one of Seixal’s brightest prospects, and club officials retain full confidence in the youngster.

The decision follows his progress last season. For Benfica B he featured in 23 Liga Portugal 2 matches, starting 13, and logged more than 1,300 minutes. He stood out in build-up play and ended with pass accuracy close to 80 per cent.

Figueiredo is contracted until 2028, yet another renewal fits Benfica’s approach to locking down leading academy talents before adulthood, safeguarding assets and ensuring stability.

He is poised to extend his stay and remain within the sporting plan mapped out for the coming seasons, aiming to move step by step towards the first team once the deal is signed.
