Torino have opted against making Rafael Obrador’s loan permanent, shutting the door on a nine million euros sale for Benfica and a setback for Rui Costa. The call comes despite the Spaniard’s positive stint in Italy.
According to Glorioso 1904, sporting director Gianluca Petrachi said committing to Obrador would risk blocking the progress of 19-year-old academy left-back Cacciamani. As a result, a permanent move is not on the table.
The Spanish full-back joined Benfica about a year ago and spent the second half of last season on loan in Turin.
Benfica signed Obrador for around five million euros, yet he has made only one senior appearance for the first team.
He is currently training with the B team while the club consider options for his next step.
