Rui Costa to extend Nélson Veríssimo’s deal as Benfica B coach | OneFootball

Nélson Veríssimo has decided to accept a new contract and is set to remain in charge of Benfica B next season.

According to Glorioso 1904, the coach attracted interest from other clubs in recent months but chose continuity at Seixal after a period of reflection.

Veríssimo returned to Benfica in 2023 following a spell at Estoril, taking on a significant role with the secondary side.

He has been closely involved in developing young talent as the club continues to back its academy. This past season, Daniel Banjaqui, José Neto and Anísio Cabral stood out and moved closer to first-team contention.

Gonçalo Moreira is another youngster expected to step up to the senior squad next term, underlining the work of the B-team staff. After finishing 10th in the Segunda Liga, Benfica are maintaining stability in a department seen as crucial to nurturing prospects.
