Rumors: Saudi Arabia wants to buy FC Barcelona

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman could be poised to make a sensational entry into European football. According to Spanish journalist François Gallardo, he is reportedly ready to put forward a €10 billion bid to buy FC Barcelona, one of the world’s most prestigious clubs.

Currently, Barça is valued at $5.6 billion, ranking third globally behind Manchester United and Real Madrid. The Catalan club also carries a debt of €2.5 billion, and Saudi investment could provide a crucial lifeline to balance its finances.

However, a full sale seems unlikely: the club is owned by its members, and any deal with an outside investor would require their approval. Even a partial stake would have to be subject to a members’ vote.
