AS Saint-Étienne’s south stand will be closed for the visits of Annecy on 21 March and Dunkerque on 11 April, both 20:00, after disciplinary action by the LFP.

According to Le Progres, the LFP’s disciplinary commission revoked a suspended closure and imposed a partial stadium shutdown. The decision followed pre-match celebrations before the Laval game that featured choreographed displays, numerous flares and a laser.

Geoffroy-Guichard had only just been back to full voice from both ends since the Boulogne visit, a 0-1 defeat, less than two months ago. Saint-Étienne beat Laval 2-1 in that spell.

In a short but intense run, Philippe Montanier arrived as head coach and the Verts put together five straight wins. They now sit second, five points clear of third-placed Reims.

The sanction targets the Jean-Snella stand, home to the Green Angels, and is set to last until mid-April.
